Wes Anderson is offering to you a character in his next animated film Isle of Dogs



The director of Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Darjeeling Limited is working in his next movie and is doing an ingenious crowdfunding campaign.

In reality, it is a contest with a worthy cause. Through an online platform,  people call for funds not for personal projects, but charitable causes and social projects. Wes Anderson joins to other artists that support this initiative like Sean Penn, Kristen Bell and Jonah Hill.

BAFTA Awards 2017 nominations. La La Land leads Film Awards Nominations



La La Land follows unstoppable. This morning the musical by Damien Chazelle has been nominated in 11 categories at BAFTA, the British Awards.

 

This musical just two days ago was the huge winner at the Golden Globes where it got all the prizes it had been nominated and made history to become the most awarded film of all times for these awards. At BAFTA Awards which are given by The British Academy of Film and Television Arts La La Land has nominations for: Best Film, Director, Actor and Actress, Original Screenplay, Edition, Design of Production, Cinematography, Original Musical, Costume Design and Sound.

2017 Golden Globes all winners. La La Land, the musical film that makes history for this genre



The 74th Golden Globes ceremony started with a 5 minutes number in parody of the opening scene of La La Land as a way to celebrate the favorite film of the night. La La Land ratified its preference walking away with the 7 awards it was nominated: Best Film Musical/Comedy, Director, Actor and Actress, Screenplay, Original Song and Score.

This way, the refreshing film by Damien Chazelle has made history for this genre to become in the most Golden Globes won by a movie. Until yesterday, the version of “A Star is Born” (1976) starring Barbra Streisand was the most representative musical with 5 awards. But that is not all, La La Land breaks record for most wins by a film which not only includes the category of Musical/Comedy.

KIKI, love to love by Paco Leon – REVIEW

This Spanish comedy directed by Paco Leon has received four Goya Award nominations recently: Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress,  Best Newcomer Actress and Best Original Song. The ceremony will take place next February 4th.

Four nominations for a comedy movie could seem enough because we are accustomed this genre will be the great absentee during Awards Season, but some Spanish audience has said Kiki, love to love deserved more nominations in relevant categories specially. Some media, like El Español, have published articles saying that members use to confuse the comedy with inconsequential or light and that these Film Academies will prefer always tears (drama) than laughter.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story continues as the preferred option in theaters – Review



After being released in the middle of December 2016, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story continues being the preferred option in theaters these two first days of 2017.

The movie is on battle with the recent project by Illumination Entertainment, Sing, that also got a good box-office with an estimated $42.8 million in three-days. The same behavior was replicated in many countries included Canada.

Deadpool, the most searched movie in Google during 2016 – Top 10 Film Ranking



Today is the second day of 2017 and there is still a lot of film rankings to mention. One of those come from Google Trends that during the last years shows the most searched keywords in different categories like people, news, events, films, among others.

Talking about cinema, the film of the irreverent Marvel superhero Deadpool appears as the most searched movie worldwide during 2016 in this search engine. The comic and comedy adaptation was catapulted at the first position of this ranking thanks to Mexican audience who were the moviegoers that searched more information about this successful production. Other Latin American countries joined to this trend like El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Guatemala.

Today in a ceremony in Strasbourg the co-production Toni Erdmann received the 2016 Lux Film Prize.
