Jackie, first English-language film by Chilean Pablo Larraín is a hit in Venice Film Fest
Chilean director Pablo Larraín has made a strong career in a short period of time relatively . All his movies have been internationally recognized. His film No, which received a nomination for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 2013, finished opening his option worldwide. Today was the turn to premiere his latest feature film, Jackie, in Venice Film Festival.
All crew behind this production provokes to watch this movie. Co-written and directed by Pablo Larraín, Jackie is co-produced by Protozoa Pictures, company founded by Darren Aronofsky. Besides that, it was edited by the another Chilean director Sebastián Sepúlveda, with cinematography by French Stéphane Fontaine (A prophet) and the main role by Natalie Portman who plays “Jackie” Kennedy Onassis.
In December 2015, Aronofsky production company had shown the first image of this movie, where we could see a good characterisation of this actress as John F. Kennedy wife. The filming took place in Paris and US.
It is a biopic about the life of the first lady of the 35th President of the United States, by taking place four days before his assassination in November 22nd, 1963.
Portman shares casting with Peter Sarsgaard, who plays JFK’s brother and the British actor John Hurt. As a “surprising and unexpected movie” was described by Alberto Barbera, artistic director of Venice Film Fest. Pablo Larraín was in Cannes last May, exhibiting his another 2016 movie, Neruda, and there he said to media he was eager to return into editing room and finish the movie. He also said that he didn’t know in what stage was the production, but he was sure that Jackie wouldn’t be a conventional biopic.
Reaction in Venice
Jackie makes part of the official competition, where other 19 movies hopes to win the Golden Lion. Early this morning Cinema Chile, website founded by the Association of Cinema and TV producers of that country, collected some of the first reaction in the film festival, where Jackie is considered one of the strong contenders for the top award:
