20th Century Fox finally confirmed, last April, the adaptation of this comic book in an animated film that will be released in October 2017.

Under direction by British Alex Orrelle (animation director in Yogi Bear) and Peruvian Eduardo Schuldt (The entity), and two hands script written by Martin Piroyansky and Ishai Ravid, the movie will revolve around the most beloved character of Pelotillehue.

According first details, Condorito will going to venture in a dangerous adventure together to his persevering nephew, Corne, in order to rescue to Mrs Tremebunda, his mother-in-law, who is believed has been abducted by aliens. While they try to fix their errors with Yayita’s mother, she will be courted by persistent Pepe Cortisona.

To take one of the iconic Latin American comics into a motion picture is one of the big moves by the 20th Century Fox for this region. Adrian Trautman, marketing vice-president in Latin America said: “We are sure Condorito will be another of our box-office success… We are happy now to make  into a motion picture the great and beloved Condorito”.

Chile has been a strong Ufology tradition, for that reason UFOS have been one of the usual issues in this comic book. Condorito is an anthropomorphic condor (emblematic bird from Andean mountains) from humble peasant class that was created by Chilean cartoonist René Ríos Boettiger, best known as Pepo, in August, 1949. With more than 67 years of story, Condorito is the most popular comic character in Latin America. Fox has reported that the comic book is published in more than 105 newspapers and has reached a print-run of 1.3 million copies per year.

The animated feature film will have the collaborations of important artists from different countries, who will be the voice to each one of the characters of this newly franchise.

Condorito will be released in 2D and 3D formats in the middle of October, 2017.

  • Directors: Alex Orrelle & Eduardo Schuldt.
  • Screenwriters: Martin Piroyansky and Ishai Ravid.
  • Producers: Abraham Vurnbrand and Hugo Rose.
